The ENSEMBLE NEUE STREICHER
The “Ensemble NeueStreicher” was founded in 1983 and gave its first concert in autumn of that year in Klosterneuburg. Since then it has amassed considerable renown through hundreds of concerts, either as a purely string orchestra or in combination with winds, together with international soloists and conductors.
The musical focus, apart from the standard chamber orchestra repertoire, is on seldom heard works of the past on the one hand, and cooperation with young Austrian composers on the other, as demonstrated by the many premier performances that the ensemble has given.
The orchestra's participation in many prominent festivals (Wiener Musiksommer, ZeitenössischerHerbst, Grafenegge Advent, OststeirischerMusiksommer, SalkammergutMozartfestival, SteirischeStifts- und Schlosskonzerte…) as well as numerous tournees at home and abroad, have met with enthusiastic critical acclaim.
Numerous Opera productions, Radio and CD recordings, as well as two Television productions, attest to the “Ensemble NeueStreicher's”wide-ranging activities.
